Anonymous TipsGovernor Arnold Schwarzenegger's WAR ON METH is now enlisting the help of the public in shutting down dangerous, clandestine methamphetamine labs operating in the Central Valley. The WAR ON METH is not your standard war against drugs because the mere manufacturing of this drug can cause birth defects, explosions, environmental hazards and high toxicity in blood levels. Some law enforcement estimates say that nearly 80-percent of all meth manufactured in the United States comes from California and that 97-percent of all large scale "super-labs" - those capable of producing 20 pounds of meth in one batch - are located in California. The California Methamphetamine Multi-disciplinary Enforcement Teams (Cal-MMET) is the product of a three-year, nearly $30-million grant, from the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice Planning is a multi-county enforcement effort aimed at eliminating the production and distribution of illegal drugs in the Central Valley counties of Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Kern, Tulare and Fresno. If you are aware of a meth lab in operation, you are urged to call: 1-866-METH LAB (1-866-638-4522) You call will be forwarded to the Sheriff's Department in your region. |
